UCSC PHYSICS AWARDS
The following two Physics faculty were elected as Fellows of the
American Physical Society (APS) recently. This award is limited
to no more than one half of one percent of the society's membership.
David Belanger - 2003 (announced March 2004) "For investigations
of critical behavior near phase transitions in pure, random, and
frustrated systems, and for the development of novel optical, neutron
scattering, and other techniques to measure such phenomena precisely."

Frank (Bud) Bridges - 2002 (announced in March 2003) "For important
innovations in EXAFS techniques leading to improved understandng
of local structure and correlated atomic displacements." Nominated
